Porosity is one of the normal problems the most die casting factories are facing.
Sometimes there seems no big effect on the function if client no special or strict requirement on the casting parts. but that’s not our quality vision, we have been trying to keep the porosity disappearance or to be very few and small pinpoints. the high-end parts never allow a surface with big or high density of porosity.
Our team has developed a practice and mature skills and techniques on this point based on 20 years experiences. The below is a real case study.
Flange used in hydraulic equipment
In the groove for put o’ ring, client asks nearly no porosity requirement.
·Optimizing the injection design
·Adding overflows.
Part name: flange
Weight: 165 grams
Application: Hydraulic machine
Exported country: Italy
Problem:
Part was with lots of big porocities in the O'ring groove, caused leaking after client assembly, their old supplier couldn't solve it
Solution:
·Optimize ingate and overflow in the die design
·Reduce the machining allowance of the groove in the die casting
Benefit:
·Client never has had the leaking problem
·Eliminating their extra work for inspecting porocity, improving their assembly efficiency,
·Cutting down casting cost, due to reduce some machining allowance
